Bhubaneswar: Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Saturday announced that major science initiatives are being rolled out across all districts of Odisha, including the establishment of planetariums to promote scientific curiosity among students and the public.
Patra said that planetarium projects are already underway in several districts, with work completed at many sites. Inauguration of these facilities will be held soon. He added that these projects are part of the government’s larger vision to strengthen science education and nurture future scientists.
To encourage young talent, the minister highlighted that every year 30 budding scientists from Odisha are being sent to ISRO, where they get the opportunity to visit the Space Centre and gain hands-on exposure to space research.
Patra also revealed that the iconic Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar will undergo major renovation shortly, with funds already sanctioned by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
“Our ultimate goal is to create more scientists for the future. Odisha will make significant contributions in the field of space science in the coming days,” Patra said.
