Bhubaneswar: For the first time since 1994, Odisha will host a National Conference of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Committees. The two-day conference is scheduled to be held on August 29 and 30 at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar.
The prestigious event will bring together key policymakers and legislators from across the country. Among the attendees will be the Chairperson, five members, and four legislators from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Committees of various state and union territory legislatures, along with 30 members of the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to inaugurate the national conference, while Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with several Union Ministers, is also expected to participate.
A preparatory meeting for the event was held earlier today, chaired by Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker.
Speaking to the press, Odisha Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout shared key details about the upcoming conference and emphasized its significance in shaping inclusive and equitable policies for marginalized communities.
The conference is expected to provide a platform for inter-legislative dialogue and collaboration on issues related to the welfare and development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes across India.
