Bhubaneswar: Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling on Monday said that the state government will implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in February 2025.
“The government will make a big announcement in the new year. Around 3.5 crore people in Odisha will get individual health cards in Odisha and no one will be deprived of health insurance schemes. A Central team has completed the survey for implementing Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the state, Dr Mahaling said.
He added that the state government is also committed to increase the number of medical and nursing colleges in the state in the next year.
An MoU will be signed for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana alongside state-sponsored healthcare scheme Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana to provide free healthcare services to economically vulnerable families. Around 3.50 crore beneficiaries will be provided individual health cards to avail free medical treatment under the public healthcare insurance scheme from at 27,000 empanelled hospitals across the nation.
The beneficiaries covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana can get healthcare services at hospitals up to Rs 5 lakh, while those covered under Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), which replaced previous BJD government’s flagship Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), will avail healthcare services up to Rs 5 lakh in rural areas and up to Rs 6 lakh in urban areas.
