Bhubaneswar: The state government has initiated the development of a dedicated digital platform to ensure the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0).
The web-based system aims to streamline planning, monitoring, and grievance redressal under the affordable housing scheme.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed the move via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.
According to reports, the application submission process is already underway, with thousands having applied to avail benefits under the scheme. The proposed digital portal will further strengthen implementation by facilitating end-to-end tracking of applications, planning workflows, and citizen feedback.
The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) under PMAY-U 2.0 has approved the construction of over 3.52 lakh houses across nearly a dozen states, including Odisha. These houses will be built under two verticals — Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP).
The Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM) has prepared an operational manual for PMAY-U 2.0 to ensure uniform implementation across urban areas.
According to the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department, the revamped PMAY-U 2.0 scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2024, will be implemented across all statutory towns and cities, based on data from the 2011 Census.
As per the guidelines, households from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) with an annual income below Rs 3 lakh and those from the Lower Income Group (LIG) with income between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 6 lakh will be eligible.
However, applicants must not own a pucca house in the name of any family member anywhere in the country.
