Bhubaneswar: In a significant step to boost public transport and connectivity in remote regions, Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena on Tuesday announced that the state government will soon introduce the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva in the Kotia region of Koraput district.
Addressing media persons, Minister Jena said the initiative aims to improve accessibility for residents in the region, which has long faced challenges due to inadequate transport infrastructure.
“All departments will work in coordination for the development of the Kotia region under the leadership of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari. The Transport Department will soon roll out the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva to enhance last-mile connectivity for the local population,” he said.
Highlighting the region’s natural wealth, the minister also mentioned that one of the hills in Kotia is popularly known as the ‘Golden Hill’ due to its rich mineral deposits.
The proposed bus service is expected to play a crucial role in socio-economic development by facilitating easier access to essential services, markets, and educational institutions for the people of Kotia.
