Bhubaneswar: The Transport Department of Odisha will undertake a special drive to check buses and other light vehicles used for carrying school students from April 20 to 27 excluding Sundays across the State.
The Transport Commissioner has issued a circular to all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) in this connection.
The circular stated that during checking challans will be issued against vehicles plying without a valid Certificate of Fitness, Permit, Insurance, PUC certificate, Tax, etc.
Vehicles carrying excess students than capacity, driving without DL and violating other provisions of the law will be also checked, the circular adds.
The circular further stated that during checking emphasis has to be given on the safe transport of school students.
The RTOs have been asked to submit a compliance report of the special drive in the prescribed proforma on April 28.
