Bhubaneswar: Around 8.5 lakh families in Odisha, living in thatched houses or without a proper roof on their head, will be provided houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in current year, said Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Pratap Jena on Sunday.
Jena informed that a survey in this regard is being conducted in each and every block and panchayat of the State to identify the beneficiaries. There are many who have not yet received a house under the scheme, therefore steps are being taken to sanction houses to such beneficiaries.
While the survey may reveal that around 30 lakh families are yet to get a house under the PMAY, steps will be taken to sanction houses to 8.5 lakh families in the current year, said Jena.
