Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will not give a licence to open new liquor shops in the state. Speaking to the media, Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said on Thursday, “No more new liquor shops will be opened in Odisha.”
According to the minister, the state government has also decided to reform the existing Excise policy. The government is concerned about the alarming rise in liquor smuggling and wants to curb it by reforming the liquor policy. The new liquor policy will be announced and implemented in 2025.
A new policy will be drafted to stop the sale of illegal drugs in the state, Harichandan said.
