Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to rural housing, the Odisha government is set to sanction concrete houses for 37 lakh additional families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme in the coming months. This was announced today by Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Naik said that the Centre has already approved the proposal, and the state government is preparing to roll out the next phase of allocations.
“The government plans to sanction the new houses by November this year. I have already held detailed discussions with the Union Minister concerned during my recent visit to New Delhi,” he said.
The minister added that the process of application scrutiny is currently underway. “We are examining nearly 4 lakh applications submitted online. Scrutinization of offline applications will begin shortly,” Naik confirmed.
The announcement marks a significant expansion of the central housing scheme in Odisha and is expected to provide much-needed housing security for millions of rural families.
With this, the government aims to accelerate its efforts toward inclusive development and improved living standards across the state.
