Bhubaneswar: The heatwave is expected to grip the state in the next 4-5 days, with daytime temperatures likely to rise by 4-6 degrees Celsius. Night temperatures will also increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Due to the rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures, people will experience sultry weather conditions during the day and night, leading to discomforting heat.
The weather department has issued a yellow warning for six districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur predicting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds.
The Special Relief Commissioner has advised the district collectors to remain alert and take necessary precautions to minimize damage.
Two days back, Mayurbhanj district experienced heavy rainfall and hailstorms, causing widespread damage to crops and property.
