Odisha To Soon Conduct 10,000 COVID-19 Tests A Day, Says ILS Director
Bhubaneswar: Odisha will be soon conducting 10,000 COVID-19 tests a day informed Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) Director Dr Ajay Parida.
The ILS Director after attending a high-level meeting on strategy for COVID-19 testing in the State said that out of the 10,000 COVID-19 tests to be conducted per day, 7,000 will be Real Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction or RTPCR tests while the remaining 3,000 will be antigen tests.
He further informed that the four high caseload districts of Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack and Jajpur and the area under Rourkela Municipal Corporation limits in Sundargarh district will be the priority attention areas for testing during the 14-day lockdown period announced by the government.
While revealing that the government will be procuring 2 lakh more antigen kits for COVID-19 testing, Dr Parida said that the coming 14 days are crucial as testing, tracing and surveillance will be intensified in the aforementioned districts and in the area under Rourkela Municipal Corporation limits.
