Odisha To Witness Rainfall Activity Over Next 5 Days, Heavy Spells At Places

Bhubaneswar: While the Southwest Monsoon has been subdued in Odisha, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around 3rd September. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form during the subsequent 48 hours, according to today’s midday bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Under the impact of the developing system, while IMD has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower across the districts of Odisha during the next five days, it has issued ‘yellow’ warning for several places indicating thunderstorm  with lightning and heavy rainfall at some places.

Here’s the IMD’s weather forecast and warning for Odisha during the next five days:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Boudh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada.

Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 04.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 05.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Cuttack, Nayagarh.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 06.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Rayagada, Gajapati, Malkangiri.
