Bhubaneswar: The temperature in Odisha is expected to rise significantly from March 1, with some interior areas likely to witness temperatures as high as 37-38°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the temperature in Bhubaneswar is also likely to touch 37°C on March 1.
On Sunday, Paralakhemundi recorded a temperature of 36°C, while Malkangiri recorded 35.6°C. Other areas, including Balangir, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda, also recorded temperatures ranging from 34-35°C. Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 33.3°C.
Meanwhile, some parts of Odisha, including Bhadrak, Chandbali, and Balasore, witnessed light rainfall on Sunday.
Besides, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in eight districts today.
As per the IMD bulletin, eight districts likely to be affected by weather conditions are Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD has advised people in these districts to take necessary precautions and stay indoors during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
The temperature in other parts of the state, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Sambalpur, also dropped significantly over the past 24 hours.
