Cuttack: The death toll in the three-train accident near Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2 rose to 290 with the death of one more injured passenger undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Prakash Ram (17), a resident of Bihar. The hospital authority informed the local police about the death. The body will be handed over to the family of Prakash after post-mortem.
According to Dr Avinash Rout of SCB Medical College and Hospital, the victim was admitted to the surgery ward of the state-run hospital in critical condition with severe head and leg injuries. He also sustained internal injuries and his condition was deteriorating during the last past few days. Prakash succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment on Friday.
It is worth mentioning here that Prakash was the second train accident victim, Bijaya Paswan, died during treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital. Early this month, another train accident victim from Bihar succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
