Soro: The CBI probing into the Bahanaga triple-train accident of June 2 today interrogated Soro Section’s Signal Junior Engineer (JE) Aamir Khan for nearly seven hours at his rented house near Annapurna Rice Mill at Kamarpur here.
According to reports, a team of the CBI on Monday sealed Khan’s rented house while no one was present in the house.
Two policemen from Soro police station were posted on duty to keep a watch on the house.
Today at around 10 AM, a team of the CBI accompanying Khan reached the latter’s house, broke open the seal and conducted a thorough search.
The CBI team is learnt to have subjected Khan to marathon grilling for around seven hours.
Later, Khan was again taken into custody by the CBI.
While the CBI on Monday had four members, today there were seven members in the team.
As of now the CBI has on repeat number of times interrogated 12 officers and employees of the railways including the Station Manager of Bahanaga Bazar railway station and recorded their statements.
The CBI is investigating to ascertain whether the accident was manmade or was due to technical failure. The investigating agency has roped in technical experts for the purpose.
The agency has sealed the station’s Panel Board, Relay Room, and Signal Room apart from seizing several pieces of technical equipment.
The South Eastern Railway (SER) on Tuesday clarified that none of its staff is missing or absconding and all are cooperating with the CBI in its probe into the triple-train mishap in Odisha.
At least 292 people were killed in the triple train crash that took place on June 2 evening.
