**Bhubaneswar:** Amidst rising instances of fatal accidents in Odisha, the State Government has decided intensify enforcement of traffic rules and is contemplating to severely penalise drunken drivers. The Department is in discussion with the police on this matter, Transport Secretary G Srinivas said.
Speaking on the sidelines of the preparatory meet for the 30th Road Safety Week, Srinivas said that during the the road safety week, senior officials of the Transport Department will identify accident-prone spots (district-wise) and formulate a roadmap to minimise the risk of mishaps.
“The 30th Road Safety Week will be observed from February 4 to 10 in Bhubaneswar. The strategy will be circulated among the district magistrate and th police to implement it in their respective districts. A detailed study will be done on the black spots and elimination of vulnerability,” Srinivas said.
