Odisha Transport Minister launches ‘FASTAG’ On OSRTC Buses

**Bhubaneswar:** On a move to make bus travelling hassle free at the toll plazas, the Odisha Government has launched a smart toll tax device ‘SBI Fastag’. It will run things on a fast track mode. Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Dr Nrusingha Sahu launched the initiative.

While talking to the media, KB Singh, CMD, OSRTC said, “It will increase the efficiency and help us clearing weekly profit.”

He informed that it is going to be made mandatory for all the government and private buses from April 1. This initiative was implemented after the government signed an MoU with the State Bank of India (SBI) to make travelling time friendly.

The Odisha Government has launched the initiative that will ensure saving time as well a fuel of common man.

During the launch, Odisha Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, BMC Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and Bhubaneswar (Middle) MLA Bijay Mohanty also graced the occasion.

Initially, this is going to be active in 180 toll plazas on National and State Highways and will increase gradually. The buses will get the tag displayed on the front glass of their buses which would automatically give them a green signal at the highway toll gates. The ‘Fastag’ is powered by RFID technology. Without stopping at the toll plaza, the ‘Fastag’ automatically pays the required toll at the toll plazas online.
