Odisha: Tricolour Hoisted For First Time In Mao Infested Lalgarh

Malkangiri: In a historic moment, Indian tricolour was hoisted for the first time in a newly set-up BSF camp at Hantalaguda of Mao-infested region Lalgarh in Malkangir, today morning.

Lalgarh has always been an area which ‘belonged’ to the Maoists. And with the district administration or security forces unable to venture into it, it always had a black flag hoisted.

Taking a stronger stance against the Maoists, a team led by Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Dnyandeo Khilari and 9 BSF Battalion Commanding Officer Rudra Sunil Minja. set-up a new BSF camp at Hantalguda amidst massive opposition from the outcasts. They even held a protest rally and ‘prajameli’ on December 3

However, the Police and BSF stood their ground and the camp was established. The tricolour was hoisted today to mark this historic day.

Briefing the media, Malkangiri SP said, “the main purpose of the camp was for better security of the locals here. Out next target is to implement government-approved projects here for upliftment of people here.”
