Bhubaneswar: Odisha today sizzled under blistering heat as temperature soared to 40°C and beyond at 29 places.
Baripada and Jharsuguda remained the hottest places in the State by recording a maximum temperature of 44.2°C each.
Jharsuguda has been featured as the 8th hottest place in the list of the top 15 hottest places in the world according to eldoradoweather.com, a popular weather forecasting website.
While Baripada registered an increase of 6.1°C than normal, Jharsuguda was 3.8°C more than normal.
The Capital City of Bhubaneswar recorded 42.7°C, an increase of 4.8°C than the normal, the hottest this season.
Its twin city Cuttack recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5°C, a 5.2°C increase over the normal.
