Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The World Cup fever is at its peak as arch-rivals India and Pakistan go face-to-face on Sunday. While people are excited to witness the nail-biting match, some superfans have gone out of their way to show their support for Team India and convey good wishes to the ‘Men In Blue’.
In Cuttack, a group of fans prayed for the team’s success in Khannagar’s SAI temple. Holding photographs of the players and India flag in their hands, they performed a special ‘arati’ (ritual) and meditated for squad’s victory. While leaving the place of worship, they also chanted ‘India’, ‘Dhoni’ and ‘Jeetega Bhai Jeetaga..India hi Jeetega’ slogans.
Several restaurants in Twin City Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have put up viewing screens for their customers. Many youngsters were spotted sporting blue India jerseys. People are glued to their television and mobile screens to watch the game and get live updates. OMMCOM NEWS caught up with some people on the streets to gauge the mood and the anticipation.
A youth from Angul said, “Shikhar Dhawan’s injury might pose a problem. But, the team is strong. They have been consistently performing well. My wish is that all players play well and nobody sustains injures. I am confident that India will win.”
“I expect Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Bumrah to play exceptionally well. If India goes batting first, then score is expected to be 250+. I hope this match sets the precedent and India storms into the finals to bring home the cup.”
“India has a score of 6-0 against Pakistan in World Cup. I hope that it becomes 7-0 with this match,” said a teenager. “Normally on Sundays, I stay at home and get bored. But today, I am excited for the match. I have been watching the old matches between the two rivals all morning to prepare myself for the big clash in the evening,” said a young office-going girl.
As all hearts racing and everyone is pumped up, let us now wait and watch for the ultimate result.
