Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik has thanked the people of Odisha for their overwhelming support in the Odisha Municipal Elections.
Taking to Twitter, Patnaik said,”Thank all the people of #Odisha for the overwhelming support in #OdishaMunicipalElection. The win is a reflection of the outpouring of love for @bjd_odisha and the untiring effort of thousands of party workers. #OdishaLovesBJD”
He has also congratulated all the winning BJD candidates and has appreciated the hard work put in by his party workers.
The BJD like the recently concluded panchayat election is on its march towards a sweeping victory in the polls to the urban local bodies, the counting of which is underway today.
The BJD’s Mayor candidates in the three municipal corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur-Sulochana Das, Subash Singh and Sanghamitra Dalei respectively have trounced their nearest rivals by huge margins.
According to the latest trend, BJD candidates are leading in 76 urban local bodies (ULBs), followed by BJP which is leading in 16, Congress in 7 and independent candidates in nine.
The counting of votes of 105 municipalities/notified area councils (NACs) and three municipal corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur started at 8 AM.
However, the final result has not been declared by the State Election Commission.
