Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has apprehended Sisir Kumar Naik, an Amin at Kutra Tahasil in Sundargarh district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 6,000.
The accused was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from a complainant, who had approached him to prepare a sketch map for partition of land ROR (patta) as per a court order. Despite receiving the court order, Naik had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000, which was later negotiated down to Rs. 6,000.
The complainant, a poor man, had no option but to approach the Vigilance authorities, alleging harassment by Naik. Acting swiftly, Vigilance officers trapped Naik and recovered the entire bribe amount from his possession.
Simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Naik, and a case has been registered under Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. An investigation is ongoing against the accused Amin.
