Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Satyaprakash Narayan Bhattaray, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Badamba Panchayat Samiti in Cuttack district, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets (DA) amounting to 128 per cent of his known sources of income, officials said.
According to Vigilance authorities, Bhattaray failed to satisfactorily account for the assets found in his possession during an investigation.
A case has been registered against him at the Vigilance Police Station in Cuttack under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The arrest follows simultaneous searches conducted on March 7, 2026, at multiple locations linked to the accused on the strength of warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
During the searches, officials unearthed assets including a double-storeyed residential building at Patia in Bhubaneswar, five high-value plots located in Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal and Choudwar in Cuttack district, gold ornaments weighing 133 grams, bank and other deposits worth Rs 41.56 lakh, and household articles valued at around Rs 8 lakh.
A Hyundai Creta was also found in his possession, officials added.
Following his arrest, Bhattaray is being forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
Further investigation into the case is underway, Vigilance sources said.
