Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Friday arrested Basanta Kumar Mahapatra, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Boudh, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. Odisha Vigilance has seized unaccounted properties worth Rs 19 crore from his possession.
The seized properties include flats worth Rs 14.50 crore at various locations in Bhubaneswar, Boudh, and Ganjam districts and jewellery, vehicles, and movable properties worth Rs 4.50 crore.
The Vigilance sleuths had launched simultaneous house searches at properties linked to Mahapatra and his family members. The house searches were conducted at 10 locations in Bhubaneswar, Boudh, and Ganjam.
Investigation into the case is still underway and further details are awaited.
