Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Biswanath Patro, Asst. Executive Engineer (AEE), Jeypore Block, and I/c Municipal Engineer, Jeypore Municipality, Koraput, and forwarded him to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 130% of his known sources of income. Patro could not account for his assets satisfactorily.
A case has been registered at the Koraput Vigilance police station against Patro and his spouse under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
During simultaneous house searches, Vigilance sleuths unearthed the following movable and immovable assets in the name of Biswanath Patro and his family members:
- One triple-storeyed building with an area of 7,200 sqft located at Jeypore town worth approx. Rs1.55 crore.
- One double-storeyed building with an area of 3,400 sqft located at Belaguntha, Ganjam.
- 18 plots of which six are in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, 1 in Jeypore town, 1 in Berhampur town and 10 plots at Jagannathprasad in Ganjam.
- Bank & Insurance deposits Rs1,01,00,210.
- Gold jewellery weighing 854 gms & silver ornaments 1.8 Kg.
- Cash, 2 two-wheelers and household articles worth around Rs 7.70 lakh.
After thorough searches, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Biswanath Patro were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 130% over his known sources of income.
Investigation into the case is in progress.
