Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Debajani Kar, a junior clerk in the office of the Sub-Registrar, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
An official press release confirmed that she will be presented in court today.
The anti-corruption agency revealed that Kar had demanded the bribe from an individual in exchange for processing the Registered Sale Deed (RSD) of a subplot on December 9.
Following her arrest, a search of the Sub-Registrar’s office led to the discovery of over Rs 15 lakh in cash, according to the Vigilance.
A case (No. 26) has been registered at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station in connection with the incident and further investigation is ongoing.
