Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Satyanarayan Challan, branch-in-charge of Kunduli LAMPCS under Semliguda blockin Koraput, for demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a millet farmer in his office at Kunduli LAMPCS.

According to a release issued by the Odisha Vigilance department, Challan had demanded a bribe of Rs 45 per bag to procure the 117 bags (50 kg each) of millets from the farmer.

After negotiation, Challan reduced the bribe amount to Rs 3,000. When Challan refused to accept the millet bags without the bribe, the farmer reported the incident to the Vigilance authorities. Consequently, Challan was caught while accepting the bribe.

The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused, Challan.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to  Challan from the DA angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance has registered a case. An investigation is currently underway against the Branch in charge of Kunduli LAMPCS. Further details will follow.
