Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Banamali Parida, Additional Tahasildar, Gania Tahasil in Nayagarh district, while demanding and accepting Rs 13,000 bribe from a complainant for the release of his seized sand-laden Hywa truck.
According to Odisha Vigilance, Parida had demanded Rs 13,000 bribe from the complainant and had collected the first installment of Rs 10,000 on July 24. He was nabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance on Friday while taking the balance bribe amount. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Parida and seized.
A case has been registered at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment Act), 2018.
An investigation is underway against Parida and a detailed report follows.
