Bhubaneswar: A constable of the Odisha Police serving under the Commissionerate of Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack was arrested today by the Vigilance Department on charges of accepting a bribe.
Constable Suresh Dash serving in the Accounts department of the Commissionerate of Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack at the Police Seva Bhawan here was trapped by Vigilance Department sleuths while he was accepting a bribe to get a house rent bill passed.
Vigilance officials have seized Rs 8,000 from his possession and he has been arrested.
Commissioner of Police, Commissionerate of Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Sudhansu Sarangi has placed the erring constable Suresh Dash under suspension with immediate effect, the Commissionerate of Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has tweeted a little while from now.
Earlier, the Commissionerate of Police had confirmed the incident and had tweeted: “On the complaint of demanding bribe for showing undue favour, action has been taken against Constable Suresh Dash. State Vigilance has today trapped him while accepting bribe. All such conduct is reprehensible & strict action will follow.”
