Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance personnel arrested Jitendra Kumar Padhy, Executive Engineer (EE), Tel Irrigation Division, Subarnapur, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 46,000 from a contractor (complainant) in his office chamber for clearing his pending bills. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at six locations linked to Padhy from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case has been registered in this connection at the Sambalpur Vigilance PS under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against accused Padhy and further details are awaited.
