Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested Tuna Pradhan, Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO), and Sagar Kumar Das, Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS), of Kanas Panchayat Samiti in Puri district, on charges of misappropriating ₹21.98 lakh of government funds.
According to Vigilance officials, the accused duo allegedly diverted money meant for beneficiaries under the Old Age Pension (OAP) and the Madhubabu Pension Yojana (MBPY) between FY 2022-23 and 2024-25, without distributing it to eligible recipients.
A case has been registered at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 20/2025) under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(a) of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and Sections 316(5)/61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is underway, Vigilance officials said.
