Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has registered cases against 447 government employees for amassing disproportionate assets over the last five years, from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2023, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday.
In a written response to a query by Congress MLA from Rayagada, Kadraka Appala Swamy, the Chief Minister revealed that 594 government employees were booked in trap cases during the same period.
Majhi further stated that the trial process for 911 Vigilance cases was completed within this timeframe, including 30 cases that were registered during the same period.
Of these 30 cases, 11 government employees were convicted by Vigilance courts, while 12 employees were acquitted. In seven cases, proceedings were closed due to the death of the accused employees during the trial.
The Chief Minister also clarified that none of the convicted employees remain engaged in government service.
