Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday detained IIC of Boipariguda police station Susanta Satpathy after recovering total cash of Rs 37,27,000 from him, his official chamber, and the government quarter.
According to an official press release, based on reliable inputs about the movement of Satpathy from Boipariguda towards Cuttack in a bus along with suspected ill-gotten cash, a team of the Odisha Vigilance intercepted him near Jeypore leading to the recovery of Rs 2,70,000 cash from his possession which he could not explain satisfactorily.
Vigilance officials have also recovered Rs 1,80,000 from Satpathy’s office chamber at Boipariguda police station and Rs 3 lakh from his government quarter at Boipariguda during the search.
Further, cash bundles of Rs 500 and other denominations were recovered on Tuesday morning during searches at the government quarter of Susanta Satpathy in Cuttack. So far, the Vigilance sleuths have recovered cash to the tune of over Rs 37,27,000 lakh.
Total cash seizures so far in ongoing searches at locations of Susanta Satpathy, IIC Baipariguda police station are as follows:
- Rs 2,70,000 from his possession.
- Rs 1,80,000 from his office chamber at Baipariguda police station.
- Rs 3 lakh from his official quarter at Baipariguda.
- Rs 29.77 lakh from his official government quarter at Buxi Bazar in Cuttack.
- Total cash recovered and seized: Rs 37,27,000.
Searches are still continuing. Satpathy has been detained at the Jeypore Vigilance Office and is being examined in connection with the cash recoveries.
