Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday seized sawmill accessories, valuable timber, and an unclaimed pick-up van worth ₹41.75 lakh during raids on three illegal sawmills in Khordha district.
According to an official press release, acting on intelligence inputs, the Vigilance Forest Wing conducted raids on sawmills operating illegally in Hirapur, Chittalpur, and Jhintisasan villages under Balianta and Balipatna police limits in Khordha district.
During the raid at Chittalpur, officials seized sawmill accessories, 40 cubic feet of valuable timber, and an unclaimed pick-up van, all valued at ₹41.75 lakh. The sawmills were found operating without valid licenses, in violation of the Orissa Sawmill and Sawpit (Control) Act, 1991.
