Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Sunday seized Rs 2.33 lakh in suspected ill-gotten cash from a Forest Range Officer in Rayagada district and launched simultaneous raids at three locations linked to him, according to an official press release.
Acting on credible inputs, Vigilance officials intercepted Sukumar Dukhu, the Forest Range Officer of the Gudari Range, near Indrabati Bridge in Nabarangpur while he was travelling from Gudari to his residence on Senapati Street in an official Bolero vehicle.
During the interception, officials recovered Rs 2.33 lakh in cash from his possession. As Dukhu failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the money, the cash was seized on the spot. The official vehicle bearing registration number OD18K-7041 was also seized.
Following the recovery, Vigilance teams initiated simultaneous searches at three locations linked to Dukhu on suspicion of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Officials said the search operations are continuing and further details are awaited. A detailed report is expected after the completion of the raids.
