Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday unearthed two multistoried buildings, including one triple-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, approximately 1 kg gold, four plots, cash to the tune of Rs 13 lakh, one benami car and other items during simultaneous house searches at the properties linked to Subash Chandra Panda, Deputy General Manager, Eng. (Civil), Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation, Berhampur Division.
An official statement said that on seeing the Vigilance team Panda threw away Rs 10 lakh from his triple-storeyed building to the terrace of a neighbour’s building. The cash was, however, recovered by the Odisha Vigilance team.
During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Panda and his family members:
- One triple-storeyed building on plot No.1105/1882 with area approx 4000 sqft at Mahadev Vihar, Shankarpur, Aiginia, under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar.
- One double-storeyed building constructed by Panda at his native village Barimunda, Ramagarh Sahi, under Mancheswar police limits in Bhubaneswar.
- Four high value plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
The house searches are still underway and further details are awaited.
Earlier in the day, Odisha Vigilance teams led by 5 DSPs, 7 Inspectors, and other supporting staff launched simultaneous house searches at properties linked to Panda following allegations of amassing disproportionate assets.
The house searches are being conducted on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
According to an official statement, the house searches were being conducted at the following 4 places in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.
- Panda’s residential house on plot No. 1105/ 1882 at Mahadev Vihar, Shankarpur, Aiginia, under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar.
- The house of Panda at his native place at Barimunda village, Ramagarh Sahi, under Mancheswar police limits in Bhubaneswar.
- Panda’s rented house at Kharavel Nagar, 1st Line in Berhampur.
- Panda’s office at Medical Bank Colony, 1st Lane, Berhampur.
