Bhubaneswar: In a massive crackdown on alleged corruption, Odisha Vigilance has unearthed assets worth several crores belonging to Bidyadhar Pati, Tahsildar of Remuna, Balasore, and his family members.
According to an official press release, the searches, conducted at seven locations in Bhubaneswar and Balasore, have revealed significant movable and immovable properties, suspected postal deposits, and large cash transactions.
Preliminary findings indicate that Pati and his family own multiple high-value properties, including a luxurious 3-BHK executive flat at Assotech Pride, Rudrapur, Bhubaneswar, worth approximately ₹1.5 crore, another 3-BHK flat at Tamarind Terraces, Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar, valued at around ₹1 crore, and a third 3-BHK flat at Supratik Life Style, Kuruda, Balasore.
The vigilance teams have also discovered two land plots, one measuring 2,000 sq. ft. at Balianta, Bhubaneswar, and another at Samal, Balasore. The valuation of these assets is currently being assessed by the Vigilance Technical Wing.
Additionally, officials seized 917 grams of gold jewelry, suspected postal deposits worth ₹1 crore, and cash transactions amounting to ₹20 lakh in postal accounts, which are under verification. Pati’s bank deposits of ₹22 lakh have also been identified, with further deposits and investments still being traced.
A Hyundai i20 car and two two-wheelers were also recovered during the searches. Officials suspect that the overall valuation of these assets is likely to increase as the investigation progresses.
On the basis of allegations that Pati possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, Odisha Vigilance conducted simultaneous house searches at multiple locations on February 11, 2025.
The locations raided include his flats at Tamarind Terraces in Sailashree Vihar and Assotech Pride in Rudrapur, Bhubaneswar, as well as a double-storeyed building at Kuruda in Balasore. His paternal house at Ainri under Soro police limits in Balasore, his current place of residence in Balasore, the house of a relative at Mars Villa in Dumduma, Bhubaneswar, and his office chamber as Tahsildar in Remuna were also searched.
The large-scale operation was carried out by seven teams of Odisha Vigilance, consisting of six Deputy Superintendents of Police, three Inspectors, ten Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and other supporting staff. The searches were conducted under warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Pati is currently being interrogated to determine the source of his assets. Officials have stated that further searches may reveal additional properties and investments.
