Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has intensified its crackdown on corruption, with seven of the eight largest cash seizures in its history occurring between 2022 and 2025.

The latest and second-largest cash seizure took place on February 5, 2025, when ₹1.98 crore was recovered during house searches against Santanu Mohapatra, Deputy Director & Project Director, Watershed, Malkangiri.

The largest-ever seizure remains the ₹3.41 crore recovery from Kartikeswar Raul, Assistant Engineer, MI, Bhanjanagar, Ganjam, on April 7, 2022.

Other major cases include the ₹3.12 crore seizure from Prasanta Kumar Rout, Additional Sub-Collector, Nabarangpur, in June 2023, and ₹1.64 crore from Umesh Chandra Jena, Additional Director, Directorate of Mines, Bhubaneswar, in March 2023.

In total, Vigilance has seized over ₹13 crore in these high-profile corruption cases. The only pre-2022 case on the list dates back to February 2016, when ₹1.01 crore was recovered from DFO Athagarh, Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra.
