Bhubaneswar: After a brief respite from the scorching heat, several parts of Odisha are likely to cross 40 degrees Celsius mark in the next couple of days, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the latest prediction by the regional office of Meteorological Centre, the maximum day temperature is expected to rise by 6-8 degrees Celsius across Odisha during the period.
The maximum temperature is expected to touch 43 degrees Celsius in Bolangir, Sambalpur, Titlagarh, Jharsuguda and Sonepur in the next couple of days.
As per the information provided by the IMD, Chandbali recorded the highest temperature with 36.8°C at 11.30 am on Saturday. Balasore closely followed Chandbali recording 36.4°C.
Places that have been experiencing scorching heat include Bhubaneswar (36.2°C), Gopalpur (34.6°C), Keonjhar (34°C), Puri 33.8°C, Paradip (33.4°C), Jharsuguda (33.4°C), Rourkela (32.6°C), Sambalpur (32.4°C) and Hirakud (32.2°C).
Meanwhile, the IMD has advised people to refrain from stepping outside the house from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm unless it is very necessary.
Talking to media, senior scientist of IMD Umashankar Das said, “With temperature rising by six to eight degrees Celsius in the next couple of days, coastal districts such as Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati and Puri will undergo severe hit and humid conditions from April 14.”
