Bhubaneswar: Odisha is bracing for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) in 20 districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh in the next 48 hours, warns the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Going by the IMD prediction, as many as 21 districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Khurda are likely witness thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) on Thursday.
For September 27, the regional weather office forecasted heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
It is pertinent to mention that a low-pressure area has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal and its adjoining northwest off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the central Bay of Bengal.
