Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today informed that 166 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected under its jurisdiction. Out of these, 98 persons are under quarantine, while 68 are local contact cases.
With the 150-plus surge reported in the last 24-hours in the Capital City, the COVID tally has reached 3,929. Total 113 persons recovered from COVID-19 in the city today. The total number of recoveries has reached 2,473.
As on Sunday, the number of active cases in Bhubaneswar was 1,435. There have been 19 COVID-19 deaths in the Capital City so far.
Amid the rise in COVID cases in Bhubaneswar today, the spot of bother remains spread of novel Coronavirus in the slums. In one-day, Salia Sahi reported 17 new cases of COVID-19. Among them, seven are females.
Besides, 13 cases have been reported from a quarantine centre among whom eight are females. According to the BMC, in both the cases, the new cases are related to an earlier positive case.
The Corporation stated, “Contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance.”
