**Nayagarh:** In a daring heist five armed miscreants looted cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh from Odisha Gramya Bank’s Sarangdhar branch today afternoon.
The incident took place at around 2 pm when five bike-borne miscreants arrived at the bank and threatened the staffers. Two of them stood guard outside the bank building while the other three looted cash to the tune of Rs 90,000 and gold ornaments of the depositors.
The entire episode was wrapped up within 15 minutes after which the five of them fled from the spot. Local police rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry.
Nayagarh SP Asish Singh also went to the bank and investigated the crime scene.
“There is no security at this bank. The cash and valuables are stored in ordinary almirah which makes the bank vulnerable to such crimes,” Singh said speaking to OMMCOM NEWS.
This is the second incident of bank robbery today in Odisha. The first incident took place in Angul when masked miscreants looted Rs 1 crore from Andhra Bank’s Bazar Chowk branch in the town.
