**Cuttack**: A shocking incident has come to the fore form Cuttack, as a newborn baby girl was abandoned by her mother after delivery in SCB Medical College and Hospital.
According to sources, the incident occurred on October 31 when an expectant mother from Buxi Bazar area was admitted in the Gynecology department of the hospital for her delivery. After a successful delivery of a healthy baby girl, the women allegedly disappeared from the hospital abandoning the newborn.
The incident came to fore when some other patients found the newborn sleeping on the bed without her mother. They informed the nurse, following which Superintendent and manager of the hospital reached the spot.
The newborn is currently undergoing treatment in Special Care Newborn Unit (SCNU) of the SCB. Reportedly, SCB will be bearing all the treatment expenses of the babies. The matter is currently being probed by verification of CCTV footages.
