Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws over family dispute in Karadangi Ghodabeda Sahi under Telkoi police limits here on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Sabita, wife of one Tuna Mahanta. The couple had been married for 6 years and had a 5-month old daughter.

According to reports, Sabita’s father alleged that his son-in-law (Sabita’s husband) was having an extra-marital affair and wanted to marry the other woman. Due to this, he set Sabita ablaze.

Meanwhile, husband of the deceased has claimed that Sabita committed suicide by setting herself on fire. Tuna also said that he tried to save her but Sabita locked the room and did not let anyone help her.

A complaint has been filed by father of Sabita at the Telkoi police station for allegedly killing his daughter. Cops have detained the in-laws of Sabita and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
