Odisha: Woman Dies In Cuttack Nursing Home, Family Ransack Premises Alleging Medical Negligence
**Cuttack:** Palpable tension prevailed at a private nursing home in Bajrakabati area here today morning following a woman patient’s death due to alleged medical negligence.
The deceased has been identified as Subhadra Mohanty of Gangapur village under Kishanagar police limits. She was undergoing treatment at the hospital since Saturday morning after she had consumed poison over some family dispute, said sources.
After Mohanty’s death, family members and relatives vandalised the hospital property and also locked the gate of the nursing home alleging that she died due to medical negligence.
According to reports, her family had already spent Rs 1.5 lakh for her treatment and around Rs 80 thousand was pending. The hospital authorities stopped providing medicines to Mohanty due to non-payment of fees, alleged the family members.
Mangalabag police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
Later, family members of Mohanty lodged a complaint with the cops. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway and hospital authorities are yet to comment on this issue.
