Bhubaneswar: After unravelling the truth behind sudden disappearance of her mother eight years ago, Bijayini Mishra today approached Odisha DGP RP Sharma seeking justice for her mother who had been allegedly murdered and buried over a loan dispute.
Bijayani’s mother Jayshree Mishra had went missing on October 13, 2011 and was untraceable despite several attempts by her family members. Bijayani had also to undergo with the mental trauma of people questioning her mother’s character.
Though she had registered a complaint against a civil contractor Basant Panda, a distant relative, accusing him of killing her mother, police had not taken any action in this regard.
Later she had left for New Delhi for her studies and on return had filed an RTI application which revealed that there had been no progress in the investigation.
Last month, she met DGP Sharma and apprised him about the case. Following it the case was reopened on the direction of the DGP and the accused Basant Panda, as mentioned by Bijayani in her earlier complaint, was nabbed. During interrogation he admitted of killing Jayshree as she demanded him to return a loan amount taken from her. He had even poured acid on her body and buried it in the town.
Following it police dug out part of a skull of Jayshree, from the spot mentioned by Panda, as the acid had dissolved a major part of her skeleton. Meanwhile, the part of the skull has been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory.
After meeting the DGP today Bijayani said the court will decide on the quantum of punishment for Panda, but she wants that he gets a proper lesson so that such incident will not be repeated in future.
