**Bhubaneswar: ** The products made by the women Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Odisha will now be promoted and marketed through Facebook.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated Facebook workshop for the Mission Shakti entrepreneurs here in the capital city of the State.
After the inaugural function, the Chief Minister told media, “This joint initiative by the Government of Odisha and Facebook is an innovative programme to impart digital marketing skills to our women entrepreneurs, particularly SHGs. This will further strengthen the progress and take the women of our State to a new level of empowerment.”
Prafulla Samal, Minister, MSME & Mission Shakti said, “Each Anganwadi worker has been instructed to form five SHGs. Besides, yearlong training like this will be imparted to 25,000 women entrepreneurs across Odisha. At present, 5 lakh women SHGs are there in Odisha. This training will also be given to them whoever wishes for their economic empowerment.”
MSME Secretary L.N Gupta informed, “Under the joint initiative of State Government and Facebook, digital marketing skill training will be imparted to 25,000 small and micro women entrepreneurs and SHGs. This workshop will be daylong. They will be taught how to use Facebook, create Facebook page and market their products globally.”
In her reactions, young entrepreneur Dr Chidatmika Khatua said, “The initiative the Government has taken should basically be initiated from the scratch level. It’s because, when a woman entrepreneur is mulling for a product at the rural level, her main concern is for the product’s marketing. It’s a million dollar question. If such grassroots level women entrepreneurs are taught the use of a smart phone and the utility of Facebook, it will be very useful to them.”
