Bhubaneswar: In a bid to enhance income of Odisha farmers as well as facilitate marketing of their produce, the State Government has started revising the existing Agriculture Policy into a brand new model so that it caters to the need of the hour.
Agriculture Department’s Secretary Sourabh Garg said, “The State Agriculture Policy had been brought to effect in 2013. It has been 6 years since then. So, we are discussing its revision into a new policy model. As per the need of the hour, we want to reflect some changes in the policy.”
“As per today’s draft decision, focus is on augmenting farmers’ income. Focus is also being given to market and output of the farmers. The policy is in discussion stage and in draft level. Before finalizing anything, we have asked for inputs from all departments within two weeks,” he concluded.
