Bhubaneswar: Expressing deep concern over the alleged kidnapping of Adarsh Behera, a youth from Jagatsinghpur district, by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan’s Al Fashir, BJD Supremo and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has urged the Indian Government and the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene in the matter with urgency.

Patnaik took to X handle to express his concern, saying, “Deeply concerned to know that Adarsh Behera from Jagatsinghpur District of #Odisha has been kidnapped by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan’s Al Fashir. Urge Indian Government and the Ministry of External Affairs (@MEAIndia) to intervene into the matter with urgency and coordinate with the officials of Sudan for his early release.

As reported, Behera, a resident of Kotakana under Tirtol police limits, had been working in Sudan for three years. He was abducted by armed rebels linked to one of the factions in the Darfur conflict while visiting his office premises for routine work.

A video shared by the kidnappers shows Behera in captivity, pleading for help and stating that the rebels will release him only if humanitarian or government intervention is sought.
