**Angul:** In a shocking incident, a youth was allegedly injured in firing by a poacher at Purunapani village under Khamar police limits here today morning.
The injured person has been identified by Bikash Nayak. He was first rushed to Angul District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) for treatment and later shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital when his condition worsened.
While the reason behind the injury is unclear, Bikash’s father said that his son had been injured after sustaining injuries by a poacher’s gunshot. He said one Dushmant Nayak of the village had an illegal weapon with him which he used for hunting and kept it hidden in a haystack. In the morning when the haystack was being moved, the gun fired automatically and Bikash’s leg was injured.
Further probe into the matter is currently underway.
